Sept 14 -2022

September 14, 2022

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

Welcome to a new school year here at Pilgrim Wood. We expect many activities and events returning this year after many years of restrictions.

We are waiting to see if there may be some required changes to our classes before the end of September. There is a chance that changes to our French Immersion program will be required. All other classes should generally remain unchanged.

We’re pleased to reintroduce an in-person Open House for Thursday, September 29. Students and families will have the opportunity to visit the school and meet with your child’s teacher/educator. In addition, we will be welcoming everyone back with a School BBQ on Sept 29 prior to the school Open House.

School BBQ: 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Open House (Meet the teacher and family): 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

There will be a separate email coming today with further details about the School BBQ/Open House.

Please see below for additional information to start the school year.

Regards,

Mr. Kaiser

Principal

Child and Youth Counsellor

At Pilgrim Wood Public School, we look for opportunities to enhance student skills in the area of mental health and well-being that reflect their ability to sustain good relationships with one another. We are very lucky to have a Child & Youth Counsellor (CYC) attached to our school to work with educators to enhance our students' well-being. Our CYC, Ms. Almeida supports staff and students in the implementation of mental health and wellness initiatives, as well as the development and co-facilitation of class and school-wide learning opportunities.

Inclement Weather Entry

During periods of inclement weather (rain, snow, sleet, extreme cold), all students are permitted direct entry through their normal entry doors beginning at 8:35 am. Staff on duty will direct students into the school if needed because of inclement weather.

Late Arrivals

Our classes begin at 8:50 am. Families are encouraged to ensure your child(ren) arrives on time and are in class ready to learn. Students arriving after 8:50 am need to check in with the office before going to class.
